Courts Say Desiigner Will Not Have To Register As A Sex Offender

Rapper’s lawyer says “parties in this case have come to the legal conclusion.”

Officials have determined that Desiigner will not have to register as a sex offender.

AllHipHop has previously reported that the “Panda” rapper would be required to register as a sex offender because of him being caught pleasuring himself on a plane ride from Japan earlier in the year.

That will not be the case.

Though he was convicted of the sex act, he will not have to register.  Earlier reports were wrong.

He will still have to fulfill the other requirements, including 120 hours of community service, fined $5,000, and staying on probation for two years.

His attorney, Ryan Garry said to People magazine, “Regarding the issue of Mr. Selby registering as a sex offender, many news outlets have incorrectly stated that he is required to register as an absolute condition of his probation. They are wrong.”

Adding, “Since this was a federal misdemeanor, the sentencing judgment states that if the State of California or some other government entity requires that Mr. Selby must register as a sex offender, then he must.”

Garry continued to explain, “The parties in this case have come to the legal conclusion, after significant research and consultation with lawyers in California, that this misdemeanor conviction is not one that will cause Mr. Selby to have to register as a sex offender.”

He said the legal team is ready to address anyone who wishes to challenge the decision.

Desiigner has not publicly addressed his conviction.
