“Love Island” Star Alannah Keyser Gets Fired & Apologizes Over Roddy Ricch N-Word Scandal

Alannah Keyser’s Love Island run ends before it really starts after a resurfaced video shows her rapping along to Roddy Ricch with the N-word.

Alannah Keyser got booted from Love Island USA after a six-year-old video resurfaced showing her rapping along to Roddy Ricch’s “The Box” with the N-word included in her performance.

The 21-year-old USC film student made her debut on the Peacock reality show only to have her time cut short when viewers dug up the clip and the internet erupted.

Peacock didn’t hesitate, confirming Thursday’s episode would be her last appearance on the villa.

She addressed the situation through a TikTok apology, saying “I’m coming on here to address some things that have been circulating online.”

Keyser explained that the video came from six years prior and that the word “is just not in my vocabulary anymore.”

She added, “I do want to say directly that I do not support racism or discrimination of any kind, and I never have.”

The statement acknowledged her hurt over the situation but also emphasized that she didn’t get the opportunity to show who she really is on the show.

This marks the second Season 8 contestant removed for similar reasons. Vasana Montgomery faced the same fate in late May before the premiere even aired, with videos of her using the slur going viral.

The pattern extends back further too, with Season 7 seeing Yulissa Escobar and Cierra Ortega both exit the villa after their own resurfaced content surfaced.

Love Island USA’s production team clearly isn’t taking chances anymore when it comes to racial slurs.

The broader conversation about white people using the N-word in Hip-Hop lyrics remains contentious across the culture.

Back in 2018, Kendrick Lamar invited a white fan onstage at Hangout Festival in Alabama to perform M.A.A.D City, only to stop her mid-performance when she didn’t censor the word.

He told her directly, “You gotta bleep one single word,” and the crowd booed her response. Kendrick gave her a second chance, but the moment illustrated his position clearly.

Rappers have taken different stances on the issue over the years.

Schoolboy Q initially said in 2013 that he was fine with white people saying the N-word at his shows, but he later retracted that statement, claiming he was on drugs when he made those comments.

Tyler the Creator has been more permissive about the word in his music, though the debate continues to divide Hip-Hop culture.

The tension between artistic expression and racial responsibility resurfaces whenever such moments occur, and Love Island’s swift action reflects how seriously the entertainment industry now treats these incidents.
