Boldy James has dropped a surprise new album called Indiana Jones, which comes days after he was involved in a car crash that left him in critical condition.
Produced by RichGains, the 17-track project features Sir Michael Rocks, Jonathan Chapman, Detroit King Tape, Cassie Jo Craig, Ann One, CHUCKSTAAA, Jai Imani, Sammy Haig and Gue Wop.
RichGains, who worked on Freddie Gibbs’ 2018 album, Freddie, is the latest in a long line of producers Boldy James has recruited over the past year to completely produce his albums.
In 2022, the Detroit rapper put out the projects Killing Nothing with Real Bad Man, Fair Exchange No Robbery with Nicholas Craven, Mr. Ten08 with Futurewave, and Be That as It May with Cuns.
The cover art for Indiana Jones bears some similarities to the Harrison Ford-starring action-adventure franchise of the same name. The fifth film in the series, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, is due to be released in cinemas on June 30, 2023.

Besides coming out of nowhere, the album was also a surprise because it was reported last week that Boldy James (real name James Clay Jones III) had been involved in a serious car crash.
On Saturday (January 14), the Detroit rapper’s publicist confirmed to HipHopDX that Boldy was part of a two-car accident that happened in the Detroit metropolitan area on Monday (January 9).
He was taken to hospital in critical condition, suffering from broken vertebrae in his neck and orthopedic injuries. After undergoing extensive surgery on his neck, he was removed from the intensive care unit and reported to be in a stable condition.
Boldy and his family said in a statement that they wanted to express their gratitude to “the incredible doctors and nurses that are taking care of him, and also to the communities’ emergency medical personnel and first responders.”
Many artists rushed to social media to wish the rapper a speedy recovery, including fellow Detroit rapper Eminem.
“Sending out best wishes for a quick recovery for The D’s own @boldyjames!!!” Em tweeted followed by salute and prayer hands emojis.
The former Mass Appeal rapper wasn’t the only artist who was involved in a car crash last week. On Tuesday (January 10), R&B singer Donell Jones revealed he had crashed his Mercedes-Benz into a ditch after falling asleep behind the wheel.
The 49-year-old was fortunate to have not suffered any injuries, but said the experience has taught him a “valuable lesson” about driving while tired.
