Busta Rhymes Gives Coi Leray Her Flowers: ‘Super Proud Of You’
December 04, 2000
Busta Rhymes had nothing but good things to say about Coi Leray after the pair ran into each other earlier this week, and the feeling is more than mutual.
The “Big Purr” rapper ran into Busta at a club appearance, and shared a video partying with him on her Instagram on Tuesday (December 27). Though they haven’t collaborated, a now-viral TikTok mashup by NYC producer DJ Saige features Coi’s new single “Players” over Busta’s classic 1997 hit “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See,” and it played as the pair danced.
“Igh listen.. look how God works .. like literally y’all are witnessing it right now… do you know how major this is ?” Coi wrote in the video’s caption. “@bustarhymes to meet you at a time like this (unplanned) is crazy ! You are truly an icon LEGEND [fire emojis] we not finished yet @djsaige look how the universe works.. I love you @djfirstchoice”
Busta returned the love right back, telling the young rapper he’s proud of her and hinted at more to come. “Legendary Vibes Queen. Reciprocal Love to the Max!!” Busta wrote. “Super proud of you. Now let’s show ‘em better than we can tell ‘em.”

December 29, 2022 The mashup is currently one of TikTok’s most popular sounds and features a dance routine that Coi shared to her account.
Earlier this year, Coi teamed up with
Nicki Minaj for “Blick Blick” – which
became the No. 1 video trending on YouTube at the time of its release with nearly six million views in under a week. The track appeared on Coi’s debut album
Trendsetter, but the sales didn’t really reflect the success of the single.
The album did just under 11k units in its first week, which Coi’s own father
Benzino decided to poke fun at on his Instagram. The former
Source Magazine owner reposted DJ Akademiks’ post of the numbers, which included the caption, “IF SHE HAD TRACK WITH @IAMBENZINO I WOULDA LISTENED @COILERAY,” and added a few laughing emojis.
Nicki had much more constructive criticism, however, and took to Twitter to share her honest thoughts on the project.
“#NoMoreParties is too classic for y’all to leave the original off,” Minaj tweeted, referencing the solo version of Coi’s platinum-certified hit that got left on the cutting room floor and replaced by the Lil Durk-assisted remix.
“These r the songs I think Coi shines on & should’ve been higher on the tracklist,” she continued before listing off “Twinnem, “Anxiety,” “Heart in a Coffin, “Heartbreak Kid,” “Too Far” and “Aye Yai Yai” featuring Yung Bleu.
Coi Leray embraced the criticism like a pro, and replied shorty after with, “Ohhhhhhhhhhhh YA SELECTS IS FIREEEEEEEEEEE.”
