Cardi B, Mariah The Scientist, Ayra Starr, And More Perform At 2025 Global Citizen Festival

Cardi B, Tyla, Ayra Starr, Shakira, Mariah The Scientist, and more performed at the 2025 Global Citizen Festival, using their talents for a good cause. Last Saturday (Sept. 27) in New York City, over 60,000 people came together on The Great Lawn, after taking 4.3 million actions, for a day that recognized music and impact. According to a press release, the event mobilized $280 million in commitments to protect 25 million hectares of the Amazon rainforest; over $30 million raised for access to education and sports for children in over 200 communities worldwide through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund; and clean energy access provided to 4.6 million homes across Africa.

The day began with the ceremonial movement, Solstice Unites, who honored the land with a global Powwow. Women-led samba reggae marching band Fogo Azul then kicked off the show. Palestinian-Chilean artist Elyanna, Camilo, Ayra Starr, Mariah The Scientist, and Tyla continued the concert, bringing various genres, styles, and languages to the stage. Ayra Starr then returned for a surprise performance with Rema.

As the night continued, Cardi B brought “Outside” and “Errtime” from her new No. 1 album Am I The Drama, along with fan-favorites such as “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It.” She was followed by ROSÉ’s first solo festival performance. The charitable festival ended with a headlining showcase by Shakira, who performed “She Wolf,” “Whenever, Wherever,” “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” “Hips Don’t Lie,” and more.

“The Global Citizen Festival is about the collective impact of our artists, global citizens, private sector leaders, and government officials to defeat extreme poverty. Together, this year’s campaign has broken all action-taking records,” expressed Hugh Evans, Co-Founder and CEO, Global Citizen. “We’re proud to celebrate the achievements of this evening, but the work to end extreme poverty doesn’t stop here. As our movement grows, from Central Park to the Amazon Basin and the G20, Global Citizen will continue to drive action towards achieving our mission.”
