E-40 Still Feels 'Underrated' Despite 'Top 50 Greatest Rappers Of All Time' Inclusion

E-40 still feels like he’s underrated in Hip Hop despite being included on a new “Top 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time” list.

The Bay Area legend took to his Twitter on Wednesday (January 11) with a message regarding his placement on Billboard and VIBE magazines’ Top 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time list, which saw the Bay Area rapper come in at No. 41.

“Appreciate the recognition from @billboard & @VibeMagazine for their 50 Greatest Rappers of All-Time list,” E-40 wrote. “Still feel underrated nationally but nobody can deny my longevity, independent hustle, my unorthodox style and creative slang in this rap game!!”

The list was unveiled on Wednesday and is meant to celebrate Hip Hop turning 50 years old this year. Starting with numbers 50-41, the artist that landed spots were Rick Ross, Rev. Run, Melle Mel, MC Lyte, Jadakiss, Ice-T, Queen Latifah, Bun B, Redman and E-40.

The next 10 spots will be revealed next week and will continue with the same pattern until the outlets reach the No. 1 spot on the list. Despite feeling underrated, E-40 is still churning out music on a regular basis.

The 55-year-old is fresh off the release of Snoop, Cube, 40, $hort, the collaborative album between himself, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and Too $hort, otherwise known as Mount Westmore.

The album was released in December 2022 after initially being available exclusively via blockchain under the title Bad MFs over the summer. The streaming version included additional tracks not featured in the previous release.

During a visit to The People’s Party With Talib Kweli, three-quarters of the supergroup revealed their picks for a four-headed East Coast Mount Rushmore. JAY-Z and Nas were automatic inclusions, with E-40 throwing Busta Rhymes into the mix, highlighting the different dynamic he’d bring to the group.

However, E-40 complicated the debate even further when he argued the need for categories when mentioning rappers from the ’80s, such as Rakim, KRS-One, Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane and more.

“I haven’t seen not one person argue about us being Mount Westmore,” E-40 said. “Young or old, you can’t.”
