Gillie Da Kid has once again flexed his skills on the Basketball court, defeating the Detroit Pistons Assistant Coach Rashard Lewis in a 3-point shootout.
Video of Lewis’s bruising defeat in his own gym made the rounds on TikTok, with Gillie Da Kid asking, “2 for 9, you just wanna give me this or I gotta shoot? I gotta shoot this? I’m about to beat the Assistant Coach of the Detroit Pistons in the Detroit Pistons gym!”
The podcast host is then seen nailing numerous buckets before the video ends.
Gillie Da Kid is no stranger to the court. He was seen in July putting up serious numbers during the Brotherly Love Pro-am League Celebrity Game.
Video of the game found the Million Dollaz Worth of Game host facing off against Team Ghee Funny in Camden, New Jersey on July 22, and he was spotted landing three-pointers and nailing some trick shots all while taunting the other team.
Gillie has previously faced off against Russ on the court as well. In season one of REVOLT TV’s The Crew League, the pair could be seen battling it out in a series of one-on-ones, with Gillie emerging victorious in an 8-2 win against the CHOMP 2 rapper. When a clip of the showdown emerged on Instagram last May, Jim Jones challenged Gillie to a game of hoops himself and said he wasn’t impressed with the podcaster’s skills.
“Kill both of y’all wit a bad shoulder u takin advantage of Russ,” Jim Jones said in the comments, but Russ said The Dipset co-founder should think twice.
“Gillie whooped me like 8-2 lmao idk how you in that crazy of shape smh show my floater tho,” Russ commented.
Over the summer, The Detroit Pistons announced the return of their retro teal-colored jerseys, and that they’d be designed by Big Sean, who was appointed the creative director of innovation for his hometown team in December.
“It was really something I threw out in the universe one day,” Big Sean told The Undefeated. “I mentioned it, like, man, ‘They need to give me a job!’ Talking about the Pistons, Red Wings, Tigers or Lions. I’m a huge Detroit fan. I’m ride or die with it. I’ve always said that, but especially with the Pistons. It’s crazy that it happened like this. I’m just truly grateful.”
In a post on Instagram on Friday (November 11), Sean Don unveiled the “City Edition” NBA jersey, and said crafting them became a “full circle” moment for the Detroit rapper.
“Chef’d these jerseys up wit the @nike team n @nba for the @detroitpistons ‘City Edition’ jerseys,” Sean began. “Paying tribute to a Detroit classic ‘St. Cecilia’s’ (hence the green). The 3stars (for the 3 championships the accumulated) and that blue outline (for Detroit being a blue collar city).”
He continued: “I actually went to St. Cecilia’s for basketball camp when i was a shorty so its full circle for real. They will wear these jerseys in game for about 10 games. They also are on sale for a limited time while supplies last.”
The jerseys are currently available on the NBA website for $119.00.
