Kanye West apparently lost his billionaire status after having his deal with adidas terminated, but fans are now looking to do their part to help Ye return to the exclusive billionaire club.
A few different Kanye fans looked to crowdsource money from the public to help restore his billionaire status, but GoFundMe took the various pages down that accumulated $5 from its platform, according to AllHipHop.
Kanye West had his net worth decimated once he was dropped by the German apparel giant — but not to the point he needs fans’ financial support.
Forbes estimated Kanye’s partnership with adidas — with whom he developed the hugely successful Yeezy brand — accounted for $1.5 billion of his net worth. Now that he’s gone, Ye is reportedly worth closer to $400 million.
adidas cited Kanye West’s recent anti-Semitic remarks while announcing its decision to cut ties with the increasingly controversial rapper/fashion mogul with immediate effect on Tuesday (October 25).
“adidas does not tolerate anti-Semitism and any other sort of hate speech,” a statement from the company read. “Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.
“After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies. adidas will stop the adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect.”
Kanye West’s pockets took a further hit after being dumped by a string of major companies and collaborators over his inflammatory comments, including the fashion powerhouse Balenciaga, Creative Arts Agency, Vogue, Def Jam and more.
Jadakiss isn’t jumping off the Ye bandwagon just yet and still thinks there’s a comeback down the line in the West story.
“Everybody need to pray for Kanye and let the Lord work it out. He’ll be alright,” he offered. “I’m always for the artists. Some say and do dumb stuff, but I’m always for the artist.”
When asked about whether he believes Ye can redeem himself, Jada replied to TMZ: “Definitely. They build you up to kick you back down to build you up again.”
