Kash Doll has added actress to her growing resume, landing a starring role in the Starz hit drama BMF. Inspired by true events, the series follows the rise of two brothers, Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory from southwest Detroit in the late 1980s, and how they were architects of one of the most influential crime organizations of the era.
Kash Doll portrays Monique, a single mom who works as a paralegal for the biggest defense attorney in Detroit and a love interest of Big Meech. Kash Doll noted that landing a role in BMF was a game changer as a native of Detroit.
“It’s a full circle moment man. I came up hearing about BMF when I was younger and just seeing how big their movement was. Being a part of this story on Starz with 50 Cent, man, it just feels amazing. It’s something I can’t explain. I’m just grateful for that opportunity,” she tells HipHopDX.
After giving birth to her first son, Kash Doll explained that she is now more motivated than ever to succeed and doesn’t have any time to waste. She’s doubled down on her commitment to strive to be the best rapper and actress she can be. The “Queen of Detroit” views 2023 as her year of leveling up.
“Whatever I’m doing, I just give it all I got because my time means something. I could be with my baby,” she said. “So while I’m here, I’m a make it worth it, you know what I’m saying? I just got a different motivation now. I just try to give my best and that’s all I can do.”
As her career continues to rise, Kash said that becoming a new mother has been a transformative experience. With a brand new mixtape and as a cast member of one of the most-watched shows on cable TV, she is positioned to take her artistry to new heights. While she is enjoying her well-earned success, Kash Doll wants to build a legacy, ensuring that her son is proud of the body of work she’s creating.
“Since I had my son, I’m a little more cautious now. Before I make music or appear in the role, I just think about when he turns 18, and people tell him who his mom is when he finally listens to my music,” she said. “I just think of my legacy now because my son is my legacy. I just want him to feel proud about what his mama was doing. I would love that for him.”
Kash Doll’s Gangsta Grillz with DJ Drama, Back On Dexter, is streaming now. It features Icewear Vezzo, Peezy, Payroll Giovanni, Sada Baby, YN Jay, Baby Money and more.
“I’m honored for sure to have Gangsta Grillz. I remember hearing Drama’s tapes coming up so, of course, I’m honored,” Kash Doll says. “I just felt like it was only right if I was about to drop a tape, and Drama was back to doing them, I felt like it was only right when the label put it together and I was just like, ‘Okay, let’s make happen.’”
