Lil Wayne has reflected back on a heart-warming moment he had with a 10-year-old Make-A-Wish super fan during his Lil Weezyana Fest this year.
During his headlining performance at the October festival, Weezy took a moment to shout out a young boy named Donovan Fitzpatrick, who suffers from Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome – a birth defect involving the right side of the heart.
In a video shared to his Instagram on Monday (November 21), Lil Wayne brought out the young boy, who prefers to be called DJ, and allowed him to DJ his set for a moment while Tunechi fittingly performed “Go DJ.”
“Dopest part of the Lil Weezyana Fest by far!!!” Tunechi wrote in his caption. “Go DJ!!! (Donovan Fitzpatrick from Tyler TX) Absolutely honored that you chose to spend a day with me.”
The aforementioned clip then transitioned into Lil Wayne’s recent interview with Nightline’s IMPACT series on Hulu, as the show’s seventh episode focused on Weezy’s rise to fame.
“I’ve never been a part of a Make-a-Wish situation,” he said in the interview. “Those kids, their days are so important. Their days are so vital. And so, you wanna spend one of your days with me? After the show, I was able to look him in his eyes and tell him no matter how many people were out in the crowd tonight, no matter how many people were standing to my left and to my right on stage, it was you.”
