Mary J. Blige, Lizzo, Steve Lacy & More Confirmed As Grammys 2023 Performers

Mary J. Blige, Lizzo and Steve Lacy are among the names announced as performers for the forthcoming 2023 Grammy Awards.

Taking place on February 5 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, the 65th annual ceremony will be hosted by Trevor Noah. In addition to the aforementioned names, Bad Bunny, Brandi Carlile, Luke Combs, Kim Petras and Sam Smith have also been announced as performers.

Additional performers will be announced in the coming days.

Already a recipient of nine Grammys, Mary J. Blige is up for six more awards this year, including Record Of The Year, Best Traditional R&B Performance and Best R&B Song for “Good Morning Gorgeous”, Album Of The Year and Best R&B Album for Good Morning Gorgeous (Deluxe) and Best R&B Performance for “Here With Me.”

Lizzo, who has three Grammys already, is up for five more: Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for “About Damn Time” and Album Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Special.

And Steve Lacy is up for four nominations: Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Bad Habit” and Best Progressive R&B Album for Gemini Rights.

Beyoncé leads all artist with nine nominations, followed by Kendrick Lamar with eight – but one name who’s not on the list is Denzel Curry.

The Florida rapper had some words for the Academy and felt his album, Melt My Eyez See Your Future, among many others, deserved to be nominated for Best Rap Album – but he did salute Kendrick Lamar and Pusha T for their inclusions when the nominees were announced in November.

“Glo Rilla Deserves it,” he began. “But For The Rap Album Category I can literally Name you 10 other albums that were actually good congrats to kdot and push but all that other shit come on bruh… This shit bout money at the end of the day so if that’s what it comes down to I’m going get my bread up. In the words of the Late Great Kimbo Slice Man lemme get ma bread.”

He continued: “My Album literally tied with one of the albums that was nominated for a Grammy and I still got robbed. All my homies that came out with Top Notch solid albums this Year Got Robbed. They don’t care about the culture. They only care about building the majors.”
