Moneybagg Yo Flips Outkast Classic On New Single ‘Quickie’
December 04, 2000
Moneybagg Yo has initiated the rollout campaign for his upcoming album with his new single which samples a classic Outkast record.
On Thursday (December 8,) Yo Gotti’s Collective Music Group star dropped off the visual to his latest single “Quickie,” which utilizes a sample of Outkast’s 1996 record “Jazzy Belle,” that Lil Wayne also famously sampled for The Drought is Over 4: Return to the Carter 3 Sessions mixtape hit “PMW,” in 2007. The visual for the explicit track teeters back-and-forth between the strip club and interstellar backdrops of Moneybagg Yo in an astronaut suit as he raps about the pleasures of impromptu sex.
Moneybagg Yo jumped on Twitter following the release of “Quickie,” to tease more new music and confirm that he’s in album mode and ready to deliver the follow-up to his 2021 Billboard Chart Topping album A Gangsta’s Pain.
“‘Quickie’ Song & Video Out Now !!#AlbumCampaignStartsNow,” Moneybagg Yo wrote in a tweet featuring a clip of the video.
In a separate tweet, Monebagg Yo went on to thank Lil Wayne, who appeared on the remix of his smash single “Wockesha” last year, for inspiring him to make the record on his own terms.
“Preciate @LilTunechi for the inspiration [hand emoji] #Quickie OUT NOW !!.” he tweeted. The release of “Quickie” follows the Memphis rapper’s September single “Blow,” in addition to multiple highlighted guest features Moneybagg Yo has provided recently for artists such as Freddi Gibbs, who recruited Bagg for his $ould $old $eperately album track “Too Much.”
Last month, Moneybagg Yo spoke to HipHopDX about new music and his work on his own brand of rolling papers at the release event for the Madison Square Gumbo strain at the Maywood, California, branch of Berner’s Cookies dispensary.
“It’s crazy vibes right now, I don’t really wanna speak on it roo much right now, we gonna get to that later,” Monebagg Yo said after being asked about his upcoming releases. “The music is, what it is. They know I got that so they know I’m coming.”
He continued: “But it’s all about Gumbo right now. Actually, we putting together my own paper, I’m gonna come out with my own paper. You know what I’m saying? And we’re gonna do the leaf too. So that’s coming too.”
Along with their partnership with Moneybagg Yo, Black-owned cannabis company Gumbo Brands, founded by Karim Butler and Alexis Major, has been publicly co-signed by artists such as Meek Mill, Dave East, Fabolous and more.
