NBA YoungBoy Facing 63 Charges In Prescription Drug Fraud

NBA YoungBoy’s recent arrest has gotten worse. Less than 24 hours since his arrest, it now has been reported that the chart-topping rapper is facing 63 charges as what authorities are describing as a “large scale prescription fraud ring.”

According to the arrest affidavit, the charges include 20 counts of identity fraud, 20 counts of obtaining a prescription under false pretenses, 20 counts of forgery, and one count each of possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, engaging in a pattern of unlawful activity, and possession of a controlled substance.

The 24-year-old Baton Rouge native was taken into custody from his Utah residence on Wednesday (Apr. 17) by the Cache County Sherriff’s Office, Homeland Security and the FBI. The multiple agencies executed a search warrant as part of an ongoing investigation into criminal conduct.

The investigation began when a pharmacist noticed a called-in prescription by a doctor who’s phone number did not match what the pharmacist had on file for that doctor’s office. Authorities were contacted and they soon learned of the fraud and that numerous incidents have occurred throughout the area. Authorities believe the defendants involved were scheming to fraudulently obtain promethazine with codeine.

NBA YoungBoy, born Kentrell Gaulden was living in his compound in Utah while awaiting trail in a felony weapons case in Baton Rouge. It stems from his 2020 arrested when he and 14 others were shooting a music video at an abandoned lot. He is set to be tried in that case beginning July 15.
