Rolling Loud California invaded Inglewood, Calif., over the weekend with two days of carnival rides, festival food, and of course, ear-ringing performances. Kicking off last Saturday (March 15) and wrapping up on Sunday (March 16), the annual event brought Hip-Hop acts from near and far to three stages across the Hollywood Park grounds.
On day one, fans flocked from rideshare drop-off zones and full parking lots to the spacious event for a day of memorable performances. The world’s largest Hip-Hop festival introduced LiAngelo “GELO” Ball to the festival scene with a performance of his viral record “Tweaker.” Additionally, Sexyy Red surprised fans with 03 Greedo, YG made a statement, bringing out a President Donald Trump impersonator to perform “FDT,” and Peso Pluma made history as the first non-Hip-Hop and Latin artist to headline any edition of the festival. He was joined by Rich The Kid, Ty Dolla $ign, El Alfa, and Eladio Carrión.
A$AP Rocky closed the first night, performing from a helicopter to a stunned audience. His performance included support for California wildfire victims and those affected by recent immigration policies, a sneak peek at unreleased music from his anticipated Don’t Be Dumb album, an appearance from Skepta, and a tribute to his late friend A$AP Yams.
Day two continued the fun with thousands of fans in all-black attire racing to see headliner Playboi Carti, as he dropped his anticipated Music album the Friday before. The day began with performances from Luh Tyler, Nettspend, Molly Santana, Skaiwater, DC the Don, Dom Kennedy, Blxst, Soulja Boy, and Stunna Girl. As the moon slowly replaced the sun, the crowd noticeably shifted to await the arrival of the headlining act as his delayed arrival amped up the excitement.
Once Playboi Carti finally arrived, the audience roared in his presence. His full set delivered new music, fan-favorite tracks, and guest appearances from The Weeknd and Skepta.
On both days, ticketholders were able to enjoy several activations on-site from brands such as Backwoods Cigars, providing custom merchandising, SHEIN, which gifted tooth gems and accessories, glam services at Bunny’s Bae Bar, and hundreds of food trucks, dessert carts, and bar stations.
