Steph Curry is setting the record straight about his viral reaction to Kendrick Lamar’s epic Drake diss, “Not Like Us,” blasting following a USA Basketball game in the summer of 2024.

The Golden State Warriors star was caught on camera visibly annoyed as the track played in the background, muttering, “Damn, with this song. It’s not the only song in America.” Now, in a new interview with Complex, Curry cleared the air and explained the real reason behind the side-eye heard around the internet.

“It was both,” Curry said, referring to the song’s constant rotation and his loyalty to Drake. “Everywhere we went, it was all I heard. And the fact that they know who I was with. You can’t do nothing about what the DJ’s playing. But I got sick of it at a certain point. It’s funny, the cameras caught me because that was from the soul.”

Curry and Drake’s bond runs deeper than celebrity circles. The two have shared a close friendship for years, one that Curry says is rooted in family ties. “We’re all in the same boat,” he said, noting that his wife Ayesha’s cousin is from Toronto, which helped form the connection.

That relationship has made Steph Curry vocal about where he stands when it comes to the Kendrick vs. Drake saga.

At the height of the feud, Curry declared, “I’m a big Drake guy,” making it clear where his loyalty lies.

Meanwhile, Drake addressed the fallout from the beef in his track “What Did I Miss,” where he called out people he once considered close.

In the song, he raps, “I saw bro in the Pop Out with them but been d*ckriding gang since ‘Headlines.”

The line appears to reference those who attended Kendrick’s “Pop Out” concert in June 2024, specifically LeBron James, suggesting they switched sides when things got tense.
