The Weeknd has revealed the first trailer for his Live At SoFi Stadium concert special which is coming to HBO Max later this month — watch it below.
Set to premiere on the streaming giant on February 25, Live At SoFi Stadium was taped at the final Los Angeles shows to close out The Weeknd’s North American After Hours Til Dawn Tour in November 2022.
Directed by Micah Bickham, Live At SoFi Stadium gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at Abel’s mammoth stadium tour.
With the Swedish House Mafia-assisted “Sacrifice” soundtracking the clip, the cinematic trailer goes deep on the theatrics of The Weeknd’s three-show run at the state-of-the-art venue on the West Coast.
The Canadian crooner had initially scheduled two back-to-back performances at SoFi as part of his After Hours Til Dawn Tour last September, but abruptly canceled his second show after he lost his voice in the beginning of the set.
He later rescheduled the show for November and added another date during Thanksgiving weekend.
Live At SoFi Stadium is not the only contribution The Weeknd will be making to HBO Max in 2023. His upcoming series The Idol, which the “Starboy” singer co-created with Euphoria’s Sam Levinson, will also be dropping on the streaming platform sometime this year.
The show will follow a Los Angeles club owner and cult leader (The Weeknd) who enters into a complicated relationship with a rising pop star (Lily-Rose Depp).
Last month, The Weeknd continued his winning ways by breaking the all-time record for most monthly global listeners among all artists in Spotify history.
With 94.734 million monthly listeners, The Weeknd overtook Ed Sheeran who previously had the record with 82.40 million. Other names in the Top 5 include Justin Bieber (81.43m), Taylor Swift (81.21m) and Ariana Grande (77.18m).
